Taman
Permata Hati was officially opened by the Governor of Ubud on
19 February 2007. The Orphan Day Centre is situated in the village of
Nyuh Kuning nestled on the southern perimeter of Ubud in central Bali.
It
is an educational day training centre established to nurture children
who have suffered the loss of one or both parents.
This
“not-for-profit”, non denominational organization was founded
by Mr. Made (Kadek) Suambara in 1995.
With
predominantly Australian support, Taman Permata Hati Orphan Day Centre
has developed into a lovely physical environment for social and educational
gathering after school. Talented, devoted teachers provide tuition in
traditional dance, culture, arts, English, computer studies, yoga and
meditation.
The
ultimate aim is to empower and equip these Balinese orphans for a better
life both now and in the future whereby they dream of a full secondary
education will become a reality.
The
administrative staff of the Centre are not paid a salary nor would they
accept one if it were offered. Their time and skills are their gift to
the children.
